DISCONNECT TO RECONNECT
A show by the graphic design classes of Oxford Hills Technical School.
How do you disconnect to reconnect with the natural world? How would you spend your day without any digital connection?
Maine, also known as vacationland, is a place where individuals can escape the constant stimulation of their busy lives to reconnect with themselves and their natural surroundings. Each year Mrs. Valdes has her students conceive and illustrate a design that best represents Maine and would appeal to visitors looking to get away. Presented here are the top designs collected over the years.
Staying true to the theme of disconnecting, students crafted books depicting what brings them joy when not glued to their devices. From basking in the sun to listening to vinyl records, to sewing costumes, or simply running in the fields, students found joy off-screen.
Another part of the exhibit includes hand-painted laser-cut wooden collages, each aiming to capture the happy moments of analog living, conveyed through a single word.
We’ve also included surrealist collages using photography, AI and Photoshop to bring to life the strange dreams of our students. Finally, resting by the library windows, you will find a collection of calendars showcasing the many talents and interests of this creative cohort.
We hope you enjoy this show and can find some time to sit back, relax, and take it in.
