In Honor of Women’s History Month
Hortense Gardner Gregg Gates (1879-1967) was an outdoorswoman who lived in Norway and worked for the Advertiser Democrat. She published Camping for Girls and many small books of poetry mentioning familiar local natural spots. This talk will consider the history hidden in her writings in recognition of Women’s History Month.
Angela Todd is an archivist & historian who works to save stories usually relegated to the sidelines of history – those of women, historically excluded people, and the everyday activities of women and families. She does this by building and saving family legacies, and working with individuals to save their documents and photos. Todd has degrees in women’s studies, English, and cultural studies, and recently moved back to her home state of Maine.
